Zero calorie foods or negative calorie foods are various fruits and vegetables which contain small amounts of calories when consumed, but lose those calories after digestion, making them calorie free.

There is only one thing which is a true zero calorie substance, that is of course water. Although water is no substitute for proper food, it is advisable to drink plenty of water each day. Many heath specialists say that drinking 7-8 12 ounce servings of water a day is a very healthy habit and you should consider doing it.
Drinking lots of water is not only healthy, but if you are on a diet it also helps to quench your appetite and it is a good substitute for snacking.

What About Diet Soda?
The jury is still out on this one, although many diet sodas are said to be zero calories, some studies have shown that they actually contribute to weight loss. Besides this, many doctors have said that they can induce serious medical problems with prolonged drinking.
I used to be a big drinker of diet coke and since I have stopped I have lost considerable weight, maybe this is just a personal thing, but I really feel diet soft drinks are not a good option for anyone trying to lose weight. Try drinking tea (without sugar) or water instead.

According to the theory of negative calorie foods, some foods which originally have calories actually lose their calories after they have been digested and thus are actually zero calorie.
These foods cause the body to actually burn more calories in the process of digesting them resulting in a negative loss of calories. Don’t get too excited though, this does not mean that these can be used in combination with sugar, salts, oils and dips etc. because that would negate the effect.
